The famous nuptial march dates from 1858, during the royal wedding of Princess Victoria (United Kingdom) with Prince Frederick William (Prussia). Princess was mad about Mendelssohn and Wagner, so she chose them for her wedding. Soon, all brides in the UK had adopted the wedding march, initiating such a tradition of Western weddings.

On the day of marriage, the bride can respect this tradition that requires her to wear, in order to have a successful marriage, four elements, the choice may be a piece of clothing, jewelry, etc.. But they must have these specific characteristics:
Something old
Something New
Something borrowed
Something Blue
This wedding tradition is rooted in nineteenth century in England ( “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue”). Their significance in the wedding, is the following:
Item “old” – means the bride’s family links with her life before marriage. Therefore, most often “something old” is a family heirloom that a bride will wear on her wedding day.
The ‘new’ – characterizes life success and success in the future. Therefore, it is generally the wedding dress.
Element “borrowed” – represents luck and happiness of the future bride and groom. Therefore, most times is already an accessory worn by another bride on her wedding day and has a happy life and a successful marriage.
The ‘blue’ – represents fidelity and purity in a couple. Therefore, it is often a discrete element, a handkerchief for example, all chosen by the bride.
4.Bridal veil
Some sources say that the custom dates from the time when weddings were fashionable “arranged” and the bride’s face was covered until the groom was accompanying the bride at the ceremony, at which point it was too late to change their minds, if he wouldn’t like her face.
5.The Garter
There are several origins of this tradition of exporting the Garter by the groom. In ancient times, some guests used to steal the socks of the bride when she was with her husband in the nuptial chamber, to see who is getting married next. Other sources indicate a desire of men to steal the bride’s stocking to be successful in love. And for the reason that the bride not to choose herself with the clothes torn during the party, they adopt the system as she willingly throw socks. But some younger guests, more impatient, they wanted to take it by force, so the intervention of the groom was necessary. This has led to today, to the tradition that the groom have to remove the brides socks, replaced later with the garter.
6. Bridal bouquet
In ancient times almost anything can be regarded as ominous. Therefore brides used the plant, known for protection they could provide against evils. They were caught at the bride’s dress, from head to foot, making it look more like an assorted walking salad . Later, the plants began to be replaced with flowers, only for the esthetic sense, and move from the robes on the bride’s bouquet.
